Why we use it, and our lawful bases

Companies House lookups

When you type your business name or company number on the application form, what you type is sent to our own lookup service, which searches the public Companies House register. The company details, directors and people with significant control that we show come from that public register. We keep only the details you confirm and submit with your application.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information.

Where it is kept

Our service runs on our own servers hosted by Hostinger in Manchester, UK. Nightly backups are encrypted before they leave our servers and are stored on Google Drive. Google may hold that data outside the UK, under Google’s UK GDPR international transfer terms. Emails we send you and your replies pass through Mailgun, which is based in the United States; that transfer is protected by the UK GDPR international transfer safeguards in our contract with Mailgun.

How long we keep it

We keep information longer only when the law needs us to.

Automated decisions

We do not make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you. A member of our team reviews every application. Lenders make their own lending decisions. Read how we use AI.

Your rights

You have the right to:

To use any of these rights, use our contact form and choose “My data”. We may need to check who you are, and we will answer within one month.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have used your information, please tell us first through our contact form. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
